Over lockdown I found that even though I was cut off from friends and all social endeavours had ceased, events happening outside my bubble seemed to take on more meaning, somehow amplified. Something was happening out there. The people had had enough.
Revolution Slab works well in this poster. The colour scheme is a nod to the Pan-African flag designed by Marcus Garvey. "Red is the colour of the blood which men must shed for their redemption and liberty; black is the colour of the noble and distinguished race to which we belong; green is the colour of the luxuriant vegetation of our Motherland."
I read a book by Timothy Snyder, an American Professor of history, called ON TYRANNY-twenty lessons from the twentieth century. Its a short book with twenty short lessons we can learn from recent history. This poster is encouraging people to meet one and other in organised, healthy and safe protest. This Poster is set with my Revolution Gothic font.

This image came about from me reading about new laws which will increase the polices powers to surveil/spy on innocent people without any proof of wrongdoing. I used two found photographs, one of a policeman and one of an old film camera and chopped them up and combined them. I then scanned the resulting picture and printed it out. After hand tracing the head/camera image. I re -coloured it in illustrator and added the text using my Revolution Gothic font.

The words of Activist, poet and writer Alice Walker compliment the visual component of this poster to give an uplifting message but with a serious under tone.

Revolution Gothic communicates a clear message in tandem with the illustration on this protest poster supporting the Kill the Bill movement. The yellow/red flash gives this impact and attracts the eye.

Simple but effective. We communicate secret information.
